This is out of the past, Monika, and everything turned out fine. We were having coffee in a diner when Pat picked up the message (she was the patient), and, as we were talking over what it meant, our coffee went cold. The poem suggests, of course, that it's the message that's cooling the coffee.

Poignant. I hope everything will be all right.

i love the touch of humour in a potentially very serious situation (glad it turned out fine)
Un haïku astucieux. Félicitations !
Fine Bill, I'm happy this is past and over ! Just a little detail (I didn't see it earlier): the 3rd line should read
le café refroidi
... and of course, discussing the message, more important than the coffee.
Always. _m
A bitter-sweet post. Bill. Glad to hear that all turned out well...
Polona, Daniele, Magyar, and Frank, your comments are appreciated.
And, Monika, thanks for the return visit and the correction.
