I like this one, Bill - but it isn't easy to translate in French. Okay, I'll give it a try :

je continue à faire des promesses
à moi-même

thanks, Monika. I like your translations. In this case, I think I prefer the "je fais encore" version, partly because "encore" is a word of more than one meaning.
Don't we all? We feel we must keep promises made to others, but not to ourselves. Why is that?
