why make resolutions at all -- once i asked a teacher; she said it was to better oneself...
i asked her what was hers -- she said it was not to pinch any child (pinching was her most painful punsihment)
then she asked me what would be mine --I said, no resolutions, because i thought there was nothing to better; i was the best -- it didn't take a split second for her hands to raise to my ears! :)
Full disclosure. This is pure fiction. Like you, Devika (even though, unlike you, I'm not perfect), I don't make resolutions. But this month's kigo at the Shiki Kukai is "first [of the year]," and, while, playing with the theme, I came up with this. Of course, this is not the one I sent to the kukai. I'll post that after the results have been announced.

Very good brief but not lacking, allusion but not confusing.
leaves the reader asking for more!

Thanks, all.
haha! Perfect and Me??
that was a tease to the teacher, dear Bill...i seldom care or strive for perfection....in art as in my life..what is, is what it is :)
wishes,
devika
And mine was a tease to you, dear Devika. As Pat will tell you, teasing from me is a sign of affection.
ha! thats possibly the way I show my affection too...and often misunderstood -- they seldom expect it from women after 30...
hope we build a community of healthy affectionate teasers! :)
wishes,
devika
lots of fun
