Hiatus

First of all, my thanks to those who have expressed concern at my extended absence from this blog. An exceptionally busy summer, including a large dose of grandfather duties, has kept me occupied, and I'll continue to be on hiatus, for the most part at least, until mid-October. Then things should return to what passes for normal around here.

For now, here are two that I entered in the Shiki Monthly Haiku for August. The assigned topic for this one was "path":

an overgrown path
that used to be a shortcut
back home

And for this one, which took second place in the Kigo category, the kigo was "starlit night":

the distance
from puddle to puddle
starlit night

Stay well, my friends.

the heat . . .
a silent fountain
drenched in moonlight
