Well, don't be sad about winter rain. Here, it's spring snow, and I can tell you, 30 cm of it is no fun ;-)

we've had the third wettest winter since the start of the measurements here and though we're now officially in spring the bleakness continues with more snow on the way and no end to it in sight...

Jem, I wrote this after a drive past a stretch of motels on a cold and rainy night. As usual, I wrote it without letting myself think too much about what it might mean. When I read it, I read it just about as you did. Thanks.
