Grand, Chief!

__ Often, more is seen in primitive films because they incite deeper imagination
thus, they are primal only within their technology. So many honorable, hero veterans were a part of that saga, and Old War movies can put us therein. _m

Thanks, Doug. The art of the black and white film is often underestimated today. People who have grown up on color films see the masterpieces of black and white simply as movies with something missing. In fairness, my generation often regards silent films in a similarly condescending fashion.

To be sure, some of the old war movies, especially those made in wartime, also treat the moral issues of war "in black and white."

Black and white films have a definite something and I always like to see a modern film made in black and white when it's done to good effect.

Pat and I watched "The Man in the White Suit" the other night; she had never seen it. Her first comment: " Oh, that beautiful black and white."

We used to call it the silver screen.

Thanks, Juliet.

War films in black and white convey a starkness that color film does not, in spite of all the red blood that is shown in color films. Film is an art form, and black and white film is a separate art form in itself. Can you guess that I like old films?

The "golden age" of Hollywood was the age of the silver screen. Thanks, Adelaide.
