My mother used to complain that I never called. This, remember, was before cell phones, call waiting, caller ID, and all the other stuff that has come along. I knew the real problem was that she was never home. So I kept a record, including dates and times, and established that I had got no answer on 14 consecutive occasions – and that was by no means the record.

Sad, but often too true.
I am fortunate; received three calls and flowers.
