brussel sprout haiku blooms clutter top to bottom edit to extract
Someone in Washington D.C. had the excellent idea of a haiku competition, the winning ku to be put on display in the Golden Triangle section of the city. Of almost a thousand entries 99 were selected. First place was taken by my dear friend Kala Ramesh of Pune, India.
You'd think this might be worthy of celebration, but The Washingtonian, a local monthly, denounced the whole thing (SCANDAL) because only 3 of the 99 were in the "required" (by The Washington) three-line 5-7-5 format.

Best advice I ever received on writing haiku: Start with as many details as possible, and then cut until there is nothing left but haiku. Thanks, M.
Love the humour in this one, Bill...
Thanks, Frank.

And that's what inspired this ku.
May it be, that some "inventers of criticism" don't know of Howard Roark_?
Excellent !
M, I don't intend to blow up any haiku to make a point.
Thanks, Daniele.
