a toast

a toast
to the departing year –
snow turns to rain . . .

A slightly different version of this was entered in the Shiki Monthly Kukai, December 2012

And here's a toast to all of us. Let's make it a good one!

Yes, Frank, and the ellipsis suggests that the process goes beyond rain, even though "into each life some rain [and occasional snow] must fall." Thanks.
